About the author

Author: Franz Kafka

The Metamorphosis is a short novel written by Franz Kafka in 1915. The story is about Gregory Samsa, whose his strange transformation into a huge insect, makes it increasingly difficult for his social environment to communicate with him, until he is considered intolerable by his family and finally perishes.

Franz Kafka was a Czech writer. His work, one of the most influential in universal literature, is one of the pioneers in the fusion of realist and fantastic elements, and has as its main themes the philosophy of the absurd, physical brutality, existentialism,  guilt, bureaucracy and spiritual transformations.

“How about if I sleep a little bit longer and forget all this nonsense.”
Franz Kafka, The Metamorphosis.

About this project

A Book to Wear is a collection of book enamel pins created for independent bookstores and for their readers who enjoy connecting with books in a more special way. Each pin focuses on a specific author or title; from 1984, Jane Eyre to Susan Sontag and Annie Ernaux. From Mary Shelley to The Bell Jar. In independent bookshops, they sit naturally alongside books, encouraging impulse purchases while fitting seamlessly into a curated literary space. A wooden display can also be provided, making them easy to present neatly at the counter.
